Penzance AFC Away Shirt Sponsors 2008/2009 ... Penzance Shoppers Loyalty Card
Loyalty Card is a winner with Magpies
PENZANCE AFC will be providing a timely boost to help local shops and businesses tackle the recession, by advertising the Penzance Shoppers Loyalty Card Scheme for free on the front of our 2009/10 away shirts.
Next season, the new blue away kit will feature the striking logo on the front of the shirts, and will be worn all over Devon and Cornwall as the Magpies play our first season in the premier division of the South West Peninsula League, after gaining promotion last term.
The idea came from new Magpies’ president Neil Badcock and chairman Gary Burt, both local men who wanted to help the town and the community of Penzance as well as create a sustainable and successful football club.
“We have a plan to make Penzance AFC a true community club, and are linking with Alverton Athletica, developing an Under 18s team and looking to kick on after earning promotion to the premier division last season,” said Magpies’ chairman Gary Burt.
“We want to develop off the pitch as well, and we think it’s important that we have a good connection with the town’s businesses.
“Last season we used the space to promote a charity, but in these trying times we thought we would be better served trying to help closer to home. As a local businessman, we appreciate times are hard, and want to do all we can, while building a sustainable football club that Penzance can be proud of.”
Mike Waters, chair of the Penzance Chamber of Commerce, was delighted to accept the offer. He said: “The Penzance Shopper Loyalty Card has been well received by both shoppers and businesses. When they explained that the Magpies were offering it to help promote the scheme for free, I was delighted. “Hopefully this will provide another boost to the scheme, and show that it is not just a gimmick.”
The official presentation took place at Loyalty Card member, Planet Ice, of the Wharfside Shopping Centre, and owner Will Perrin was also excited by the scheme.
He said: “I’m a big football fan, and when I heard about the link-up I was delighted that the Magpies had offered to help. I think it’s a great gesture from the club, and will show what we are doing across Cornwall and Devon. “I’ve already given back a little bit in sponsorship myself.” (see Planet Ice programme advert - Ed).
As part of the deal, the list of businesses and offers will be listed in Penzance AFC’s award winning matchday programme throughout the season, and all members are being offered special promotions to sponsor the Peninsula League club, including an offer which will see the sponsor receive a framed special edition away shirt for their store.
* More details regarding the Loyalty Card will appear in the programme and on the website throughout the season.
What is the Penzance Loyalty Card Scheme?
The scheme was launched by Penwith District Council, Penzance Town Council and Penzance Chamber of Commerce to benefit the town’s businesses and shoppers alike.
It is a discount card, issued free of any charge, which is available to residents and visitors alike, that then offers holders discounts and special offers at various businesses and shops throughout Penzance that are participating in the scheme. Card holders will be advised and updated of the discounts available and the new business members, via advertisements on the Chamber of Commerce Page in The Cornishman, the Penzance OnLine website and posters in the members’ shop windows.
How will it work?
Holders of the card will produce it on purchase, at any of the participating outlets and be given the appropriate (current) discount/benefit.
What companies are participating?
A list of participating companies is shown on Penzance OnLine where members are identified on this website with a marker alongside their listing. They will also display a sticker advising that they are participants of the Penzance Loyalty Scheme.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING PENZANCE
